A hospital is the least forgiving environment a solar contractor can work in. Theatres, imaging, cold storage and ventilation run continuously, the roof is in constant clinical use below, and there is no window in the calendar when it would be convenient for anything to go wrong.
At 517 kW this is one of the largest healthcare solar installations in Karachi. Clinical load and solar output peak together through the middle of the day, which makes the economics unusually favourable — almost every unit generated is consumed on site as it is produced, at the highest tariff slab. The array generates close to 69,000 units a month, and the money that no longer goes to K-Electric goes into patient care instead.
