Berths 1 to 4 at East Wharf sit directly on the water, which makes this the most demanding site condition we work in. Salt-laden air attacks fixings and enclosures continuously, and the berths handle cargo without pause — there was no shutdown window and none was asked for.
The installation was executed on live berths without interrupting port operations, using anodised and epoxy-treated structures, stainless fixings and IP65 enclosures throughout. It forms part of Karachi Port Trust’s wider solarization programme, which has now passed 1.2 MW across the port estate — administrative buildings, hospital, school, sports complex and residences alongside the berths themselves.
